An old map of Columbus

A map on mail art - envelope 723 to Eva

And a map on a Finnish stamp celebrating the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics  12th general assembly.

  2. I am so used to seeing world maps from our North American perspective that I am completely disoriented when I see it from a European perspective!

    1. So true that perspective is everything. We also have a very north-dominant perspective - I've always enjoyed the maps that show the south pole 'on top'.

  3. I like maps where the buildings are shown in 3D, nice to have the moon shining down on it.

    1. I usually like to send Eva stamps she may not have received before, but the moon seemed a better match for this one. And needless to say, the Broad Street bridge is no longer of the covered variety.

  4. It's great to read the term geophysics and to see the stamp associated with it from Finland ;-)

    1. It does seem like an unusual conference to be celebrated with a stamp.
